The information desk at Wonderboom Airport will be upgraded soon. This is part of the planned improvement of facilities that includes an arrival and departure hall, flight bookings and luggage handling. Certain security equipment, such as metal detectors and X-ray equipment, have already been purchased.

The new information desk will be made of glass, granite and stainless steel. The counter will also be relocated to the front of the terminal building to make it more accessible to the public - particularly with a view to future scheduled flights and the consequent higher passenger volumes that will move through the airport building. An aesthetic, circular design has been chosen, because it can serve the greatest number of clients in the smallest area, is user friendly and requires little maintenance. Information and brochures on sights worth seeing and accommodation will also be available there.

Consulting engineers are currently redesigning the entrance to the airport. Various factors will be taken into account, such as general traffic flow and dealing with the large number of passengers. Large advertising hoardings indicating which business enterprises can be found at the airport will form part of the design.

From 1 October, the public parking area will be ready for use, with an electronic pay point in the terminal building. The presence of security cameras and security guards will ensure visitors' safety.

For any enquiries, please contact the Airport Manager, Peet van Rensburg, at 012-453-8103 or 012-567-1188/9.
