Wonderboom Airport is definitely on the road to greater and more exciting things. Prospects that we can look forward to include the following:

User-friendly lease contracts

The Council of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality recently approved a user-friendly lease contract. This contract ensures access to loans and financing, and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who would like to get involved in the aviation sector. The contract will form the basis

for future development and investment, and will in this way stimulate job creation. Inputs and comments were obtained from the current tenants and new investors, and the contract has also been presented to various institutions such as the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Investec, Imperial, Standard Bank, Absa and Nedbank.

Upgrading of water network

The current water network is obsolete. This complicates maintenance and results in, among other things, insufficient capacity and water pressure that is too low for firefighting purposes. It will therefore be upgraded and certain parts of it will be replaced. This will be completed in phases, subject to the availability of funds.

World Cup Soccer 2010

Keeping in mind that the World Cup Soccer Tournament takes place in 2010, the management of Wonderboom Airport is expecting many visitors and is very busy with preparations. Project proposals and applications for funding have been submitted to various state institutions and architectural plans and designs for the relocation of the airport tower and the upgrading of the terminal building are ready.

For any enquiries, please contact the Airport Manager, Peet van Rensburg, at 012-543-8103 or 012-567-1188/9.
